We are jumping into the new semester with big plans!
Harry Kroto, a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will be speaking here on campus at USF in just over a week -- on Saturday, January 17th. There will be a 10:00 a.m. reception, followed by his 11:00 a.m. lecture and Q&A session, then the audience will have an opportunity to learn more about the student and community organizations participating with tables set up to provide more information.
Our first meeting will be THURSDAY, JANUARY 8 at 7:00 P.M. in the Marshall Student Center.
NOTE: This event will be located in the open, at the first floor common area on the south side of the atrium (making use of the chairs and tables just across from the information desk). Look for the ASA banner! We will be highly visible to the student body in this public place, which we can make work to our advantage.
I will bring some door prizes, courtesy Atheists of Florida, to start us off right for the new year. They will include the following books.
Unweaving the Rainbow: Science, Delusion and the Appetite for Wonder, by Richard Dawkins
The X-Rated Bible, by Ben Edward Ackerly
An Atheist Reports From India, by Margaret Bhatty
The Human Agenda: How to Be at Home in the Universe Without Magic, by Roderick Gorney
